Reaching New Heights to prevent 5% of cancer

NOMAN and the Haute Route are teaming up again in 2020 with NOMAN riders taking to the climbs of Europe’s most infamous and imposing cols, passes and summits to raise funds to prevent the 5% of cancer caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Since 2018, March 4th has been celebrated as International HPV Awareness Day as part of commemorations to increase worldwide understanding of HPV, how it affects us all, and how we can prevent HPV-related cancers.

As the organisers of the leading amateur cycling series, the Haute Route knows a thing or two about facing up to a challenge. The Haute Route provides an unparalleled ‘professional’ experience for amateur cyclists with all the key ingredients of professional road racing taking on their 3 or 7 day events in some of the most iconic cycling destinations worldwide.

NOMAN are honoured to be the Haute Route’s Global Charity Partner and in 2020 riders can join Team NOMAN in a variety of terrains; amidst the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site of the Italian Dolomites with its jagged rock faces and snow capped summits, on the winding ascents and numerous hairpins and the greatest elevation in the Haute Route series in Crans-Montana, or on the climbs of a mountain which needs no introduction, The Giant of Provence: Mount Ventoux.

Haute Route registrants can also choose to make a contribution to support NOMAN’s work to eliminate the suffering caused by this devastating virus.

Michelle Smyth, Haute Route Global Head of Partnerships said:

"There is great synergy between the message that NOMAN Campaign are trying to raise awareness of and our global peloton of Haute Route riders. We hope that through this partnership we can help raise the profile of the importance of universal HPV vaccination to both boys and girls around the world and raise valuable funds to help prevent 5% of cancer worldwide."

David Winterflood, Director, NOMAN is an Island said:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Haute Route on this exciting venture. We can prevent 90,000 cancers a year in Europe simply by vaccinating both boys and girls against HPV and working with Haute Route provides us a platform to spread this important message across riders and fans of cycling across the continent. To any riders out there we say come and join us on Team NOMAN. Combine your passion for riding with raising funds to support our cause, to prevent 5% of cancers.”
